Time to remove those scapes

*As you may be aware, Blogger has had some issues the last couple of days.  My weekly gardening outlook post is messed up and will need some attention.*

*This post was scheduled to automatically publish this afternoon, but instead it republished a post from last October telling you that now was the time to plant garlic.  It is NOT time to plant garlic.  That is done in the fall.  I apologize for any confusion.*

Garlic scapes
Garlic plants are sending up their flower stalks (called scapes).  If you will go remove them, the plant will direct all of its energy into growing larger bulbs rather than flowering.  Don't waste the scapes.  They can be used in the kitchen in stir fry or sauces to add a nice garlic flavor.
